I create abstract sculptures using an invisible force that we cannot see, taste, or touch. I use atmospheric pressure to implode my sculptures which are air tight metal vessels of varying thickness size and internal reinforcing structure - this being dependent on the type of implosion process (atmospheric or hydraulic) and the pressure being used, and is my way of acknowledging a constant that can and does change our lives in many ways.

My sculptures try to express pure beauty and movement, reflecting particular situations, sensuality and a lust for life. I attempted to materialize the mysterious duality, the bond between man and woman in order to create figures both androgynous and homogeneous. In my work there is a dialogue between open space and structures. The delicate round sculptures reflect and introduce grace and beauty into the diversity of human world.

As a starting point, I walk and make drawings of the estuary along the north banks of the industrial River Thames, these images are metaphors for change. Change is never more present than found in the body of the River Thames, with its historical references, the relentless suck and pull of the tide, encouraging us to renew or reinvent ourselves. The detritus is removed and then replaced. The industrial river landscape offers a harsh yet inspiring vista.

The moment Adam and Eve covered themselves with fig leaves, eroticism was created. Eroticism is the expression of sexuality, slightly hidden, teasing us with that which is left unsaid. We all have innate sexuality. We all express it and perceive it through manners of dress, speech, makeup, etc. In my sculpture I use neutral (from an erotic point of view) objects - common objects, and endow them with erotic content. This creates a sense of intrigue - double and triple meanings, the delight ...
